Adult Students Can Get a Degree Fast – 3 Ways to Get College Credit For What You Already Learned




  • The economy is in the toilet, everyone knows someone who has lost their job, and the cost of living just keeps on increasing. So what are you going to do? If you are like me, you may be consistently thinking about how to go about making more money or getting a different job. But who wants to spend years back behind a desk in school? Just the thought makes me break out in a sweat. That was until I leaned how I can get a degree fast just by using what I already know.

    If you are like a lot of people, you may not think that you know enough about anything to shorten your time at school. Without you count your current job, which is what you are trying to get away from. But did you know that there are three little known ways to get credit for what you already already learned outside of the classroom setting? Well there are, but a lot of people do not know about these shortcuts, so they think that there is no possible way to further their education or get the degree they always wanted without spending years in a classroom.

    Prior Learning Assessment: One way to get a degree fast is to test out of some of the basic classes that are required in two and four-year institutions. There are thousands of schools that will accept the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) test results and in turn give you credit for knowledge you have already gotten through prior coursework, on-the-job training, independent study, etc. There are 33 exams of which you can choose to take to test out of basic coursework, so shortening the time it takes for you to get your degree.

    Military Experience: Since 1945 the American Council on Education (ACE) has made it possible for those who served in the military to convert that experience in the service to college credits. So if you have spent any amount of time serving your country, you may want to look into this college-time shortcut.

    Seminars and Workshops: Yes, you can get a degree faster just by putting all those seminars or workshops you attended to good use. The American Council on Education has a variety of continuing education units, seminars, and workshops that they have reviewed and make credit recommendations for.

    By using these above methods you can hopefully put your knowledge to work for you by allowing you to reduce the time you have to spend back at school attending the degree. And in turn, you can start making a bigger paycheck quicker.
