    1. I make my own butter, brown sugar, buttermilk and vanilla extract. Saves money and I know whatโ€™s in my ingredients.

    2. One thing I do when I am following a recipe (especially something I have not made before) I line up each ingredient in the order given, on the counter before I start. When I have used it I push it to the back that way if I am interrupted I know whether I have add a specific ingredient or not. That way you don’t leave something out or put it in twice.     3. This year I started keeping a running list of meats/meal bases in the freezer. It saves me a lot of time, when I no longer have to dig around to figure out what’s available to choose from, and saves money by not losing things to the dreaded freezer burn when they get forgotten in there. Also, when using the oven, I turn it OFF (leave door closed) to let it finish up the last few minutes of cooking. Done here and there, it probably makes little difference but done consistently over time, I hope it helps the electric bill.

    4. As for a great recipe, I got a bunch of apple butter on clearance from Aldi for .99 a jar over the summer, and I still have a bunch. I tried an ‘apple butter muffin’ recipe the other day and they are GOOD. great recipe for this time of year!
