Saving Money On Gas | Van Life’s biggest Expense

  • The biggest expense in van life is gas. I spend more money on gas every month then anything else. The price of gas here in vancouver is $1.62 per litre right now thats $6.48 per gallon. Just crazy. But its not worth stressing over. Van life offers you a world of life experiences that make the price of gas not matter at all. Gas is still cheaper then rent.

    1. Another great video! Chrome, you are right about gas. If people slow down a bit, plan a bit on where they’re going and what they’re doing when they get there, they’ll be fine. One of the largest challenges for van or RV full-timer newbies is slowing it all down and enjoying the freedom and ride. When folks finally “decompress” from regular living, they are able to relax and enjoy life more without the sense of urgency to see everything briefly and quickly. Have a rad day, man!

    2. Hello. That is what I plan on doing in 3 years when I start my van life…drive to some free camp site, sat up camp and stay as long as the place allows. It just doesn’t seem to be a lifestyle if you treat it like a vacation, where you rush, rush, rush to the next location. I’m going to be in it to enjoy and relax. Love your laid back attitude.

    3. Well done Chrome for getting yourself out of debt. Nowadays it’s all too easy to file for bankruptcy or just not paying what you owe at all. Kudos.

    4. Why not get a job as a bar back for the next few months 3 nights a week to pay off your last bit of debt and to put a couple bucks away? You get good tips doing that. It doesn’t mean you’re going back into mainstream. Just a means to an end 😎

    5. Disco is the man awesome!. Chrome your doing good. I know I just troll. You and Disco are awesome love yourB roll.

    6. Hello my dear nomadic friend…. Well, I have began my down sizing…trying to sale lots of items first and packing boxes for storage… I still haven’t found my shuttle bus yet(not easy to find) ..Maybe I will have to start with a custom Econoline… My plan is to start slow like you did …live in it to see how I want to build it.
Question… how do you keep Disco cool while your working? Do you leave a fan near him?

    7. Nice Crome I know how you feel I’ve been there With Owen so much money…nice to get it down 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

    8. can you get WIFI signals when in the back of your VAN? (if you were parked outside of Starbucks for example)?

    9. Chrome you have a eye for capturing things in your camera. Like the flowers or maybe any old piece of machinery. Normally we would walk right past and not even notice or pay attention to. I think you need a disco cam 🙂 as always be safe and take care of your buddy Disco.

    10. Well done bro on clearing most of the debt. It’s no small thing to do.
Once free from debt you will be truly a free man 😀😀😀

    11. You Oughta complain I was shocked and couldn’t wait to get out of Canada because it was breaking my bank. I think it was about $7 a gallon we pay around $3 a gallon here. Yes you should complain there’s something wrong

    12. Every time I hear an American or Canadian complain about gas prices, I look at the gas prices where I live (TheNetherlands, Europe) and I weep. You guys pay at most 2/3 of the price in Europe. So if you really want to get mad about gas, come to us and spend some real gas money 😉

    13. Like Dave Ramsey constantly says – Getting rid of debt is not a math issue, but an emotional / psychological issue.

    14. The REALLY GOOD out weighs the not so good…a sweet feeling in all of it. live.love.laugh.BAM! that’s good. thumbs up 😀

    15. DisCOooo!!!♥️♥️♥️ Chrome that’s for yesterday when “fatboy” got up early and joined in the front of the van. He is so so so so precious 🐕!!

    16. Thnx for the imfo and the beautiful video luv the flowers enjoy your day , hi disco 🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶 see ya soon 🚐🚐🚐🚐🚐🚐🚐🎤🎤🎤😘😍😍😍😜😜😜😜😜😜🌴🌴🌴🌴🚐🚐🚐🚐🚐🚐🚐

    17. You are so right about bitchen about things you have no control over. One of my cousins used to complain about gas prices, the crime rate and a lot more and my response always was can you do anything about it. I never was one to worry about stuff like that. Loved the B roll that totem on those peoples lawn was so pretty.

    18. Hi Chrome, can you do a video on residency? For example, how does it work being from California and moving to Canada and not having permanent address?

    19. Look at you always thinking !!!!! Great advice it is a great feeling though. Good for you!! Tons of love to Disco 💖🐾

    20. If people in the US had to pay $6.48 per gallon there would be anarchy. In Minnesota it is about $2.80 a gallon right now. Good job paying down debt. You are going to feel so free when it is all gone. But then think about saving a pot of money for emergencies. There are always unknown expenses.

    21. Chrome. My van get 10 mpg tops. I plan my life around how far I can go on a tank of gas. But it’s still cheaper than rent and the freedom I have is priceless.

    22. wow here in New Brunswick it’s around $1.25 litre ( $4.75 CDN for a  US gal or $5.67CDN for the old  Imp gal and if you factor in the exchange rate it works out to about $3.65 US dollars for a US gallon or $4.35 US for the Imp gallon) anyway i’m running a V8 in my truck and never worry over the price of gas

    23. Wow – $6.48 per gallon that is a lot of Moola! Ours is at $2.74 a gallon, but I anticipate it will get higher in the summertime. Just think to be dept free and everything after that you can start saving a lot of money very quickly. 🙂

    24. Another Great video bro, thanks for sharing… Nice B-Roll 👌.. Lol I see Disco in the picture while you get your DJ gear haha! …keep up the good work chrome and Disco, looking forward to seeing yalls next one.. Take care and God bless

    25. Love your channel! I want to get on the road so badly! I got my cc debt paid off, but I lease my car and still have until March 2020 on it. It is a Nissan Sentra. Not enough room for me and my cat “Blue”. Any advice?
Would love to meet you someday! Thank you for sharing your journey with us.

    26. I’ve got myself full-time parking spot in downtown core of Toronto. No need to waste gas and definitely not spending 2k per month in rent lol
